Digital marketing is changing rapidly as consumers find new ways to consume digital content, use it to make purchase decisions and marketers try and interrupt them when they just want to connect with friends and family. Your digital marketing strategy has to be fluid to leverage the changing Internet environment. Here are my rules of the changing digital environment.
1ne: You can spend a lot of money on content marketing and still have consumers purchase from competitors.
2wo: If you’re not on the first half of search results within Google you’re invisible to consumers.
3hree: There is no such thing as getting a website up and you’re done. Your website has to be updated on a regular basis to continually engage consumers with your brand.
4our: Data, like the number of people using smartphones, doesn’t mean a damn thing because it may not be relevant to your target audience and customers.
5ive: Consumers are overwhelmed with advertising messages stop trying to sell so much and start solving their problems and make them feel good about themselves.
6ix: Technology alone is NOT the answer if you’re failing on other brand touch points.
7even: Spending more money on digital marketing is not the answer if your consumers make purchase decisions in the store.
